Statement of Faith
The Waverly Christian School Statement of Faith is based in Biblical truth. The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
The purpose of our Statement of Faith is to unite our diverse body of believers behind one shared Statement of Faith. Waverly Christian School partners with a wide range of families that attend Bible-believing churches in Northeast Iowa.
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and the New Testaments as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writing, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16)
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, Exodus 20:2-3, Genesis 1:26)
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Isaiah 7:14, Luke 1:35)
We believe that human beings were created in the image of God; that they sinned, and thereby incurred, not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with sinful nature. (Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23, Romans 1:32, Romans 5:12)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. (John 3:16, Romans 3:24)
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate. (Matthew 28:6-7, I Corinthians 15:4, Luke 24:51, Hebrews 8:6, Hebrews 5:9-10)
We believe in “that blessed hope”; the imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (I Thessalonians 4:16)
We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit, and thereby become children of God. (I Peter 1:23, John 1:12)
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, biological sexes determined at conception reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27)
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis 2:18-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between one man and one woman in marriage. (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4)
We believe that there is a Biblical mandate placed upon parents and the church to educate children in the ways of the Lord. The purpose of a Christian school is to partner with parents and the church in this training process. (Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 4:10, Psalm 78:4)
Mission
The mission of Waverly Christian School is to equip with absolute truth, empower with education, and engage with the world.
Vision
The vision of Waverly Christian School is to nurture students who are spiritually grounded, academically well-rounded, and prepared to make a meaningful difference in the world for the glory of God.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of Waverly Christian is to provide a Christ-centered education that equips students with academic excellence, spiritual growth, and a love of serving, fostering a lifelong relationship with Christ. Our mission is to equip with truth, empower with education, and engage with the world.
Students will learn to read and understand the Bible, applying its teachings to their daily lives, both within and beyond our school walls. Through this students will develop a worldview that is grounded on the unchanging truths found in scripture. We believe that parents hold the ultimate responsibility for raising their children in the way they should go and that they should be included in the educational process. We will partner with families to prepare students to engage the world with wisdom and love.
We also believe that partnering with the community and local churches is the most effective way to educate. Students should be actively involved in their communities and local churches, and we will work closely to facilitate this involvement.
